Nature Connect

Employee engagement and volunteering program

with Barung Landcare

“We need the tonic of wilderness…
we can never have enough of nature”

H.D. Thoreau, Walden

Gather your team for an extraordinary day out at Barung’s Seed Forest in the iconic landscape of Maleny.

Immerse yourselves in nature to foster connection, reflection and a sense of wellbeing.

Nature Connect Activities

Wildlife Experiences

See Platypus in the wild! All our events start with a short easy walk along Obi Obi Creek to search for platypus, turtles and water birds.

Yellow Tail Black Cockatoos, Buff Banded Rails, Fig birds and a myriad of pollinators are all regular visitors that you may encounter during your time in the Seed Forest.

Active Conservation

This is where your team gets down and dirty: planting new areas and caring for our native plant collections. Maintaining pathways, cutting back native grasses and weeding are hands-on activities your team can engage in to ensure the future success of the Seed Forest.

Wellbeing in Nature

Research consistently demonstrates how interactions with nature promote psychological restoration. The Nature Connect program will reconnect you and your team to the beauty of natural spaces, while sharing practical stress reduction techniques, including diaphragmatic breathing, muscle relaxation, and mindfulness practice

Sunsets at the Seed Forest

Gather in our ‘yarning circle’ – a place designed for groups to meet, talk, listen and learn in an atmosphere that inspires creative and calm thoughts. Gives your team the chance to unwind and connect in a social setting

“People with strong levels of nature connectedness feel happier and function better than those with lower levels. Increasing the nature connectedness of staff can improve employee wellbeing, with flow-on benefits for staff sickness, performance, and retention.”
